Enhance academic knowledge and study skills necessary for successful university study and future learning.
The Diploma in Arts provides students with the opportunity to experience a variety of disciplines in the arts, culture, education, tourism, hospitality, psychology, Māori development and more. Students take the same first-year courses as bachelor’s degree students and receive academic and student support to prepare for further university study. After completing the diploma, students can move into the second year of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of International Hospitality Management, potentially completing their bachelor’s in the standard three years. This diploma is well-suited for those undecided about their major or who narrowly missed university entrance.

Build the confidence and knowledge required to progress into the second year of a related bachelor’s degree after diploma completion.
What you need to know first
University Entrance OR 42 NCEA level 3 credits (including UE literacy and numeracy), with either 10 credits in each of three approved subjects OR 12 credits in each of two approved subjects and 14 credits across two further subjects.
Applicants who narrowly missed gaining University Entrance can select the 'Degree Transition' pathway.
IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in Writing and a minimum of 5.0 in other bands, or equivalent English language requirements.
