About This Course

The Bachelor of Nursing (Te Tohu Paetahi Tāpuhi) at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is designed to prepare graduates for registration as a New Zealand registered nurse. This comprehensive three-year, NZQA Level 7 degree covers essential nursing theory and practice, including clinical placements, Māori health, mental health, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Supported by experienced tutors, students develop the skills and confidence to make a real difference in various health care settings.

Entry Requirements

17 years of age or over

For those under 20: University Entrance as specified by NZQA (recommended one science subject), or recent (within 5 years) Level 4 or higher NZQA study

For those 20 and over: Academic ability at NZQA Level 4 or equivalent within 5 years, or approved Level 4 health foundation/bridging/introductory programme with 60% or higher in all modules

Two character references (not family, friends, or work colleagues)

Current comprehensive First Aid Certificate

Evidence of immunity as required by the Department of Nursing and clinical partners

Declaration regarding physical and mental health status

Successful police vetting check

Full COVID-19 vaccination
