The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) at Wintec is a two-year full-time programme designed for graduates with a health-related background who wish to become registered nurses. Integrating coursework and clinical practice, students develop advanced nursing knowledge, clinical competency, and culturally safe practice. Graduates are eligible to sit the State Final Examination for nurse registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).
What you need to know first
Recognised bachelor’s degree in health-related field with a minimum B grade (65%) in the third year
Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (NZQA units 6400, 6401, 6402)

Written health and immunity status assessment
Safety checks including referee and police vet checks, and risk assessment under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014
English language proficiency: IELTS 7.0 (with no band less than 7.0) or equivalent for applicants for whom English is a second language
