Develop the technical and practical skills to operate independently as a professional yacht rigger.

Learn and implement health and safety standards specific to marine and rigging environments.
As a yacht rigging apprentice, you will split your time between the workshop, marina and on-water environments, inspecting and maintaining standing rigging, splicing ropes, setting up control systems, and ensuring everything operates smoothly. Every project is different, and you could find yourself working anywhere in the world.
You will learn to design, install, tune and maintain sail systems including masts, standing and running rigging, covering load calculations, tensioning and material behaviour under stress, as well as assembling fittings, splicing ropes, and installing hardware at heights.

Legal eligibility to study in New Zealand (immigration status verified)
Employment in a marine environment
Minimum age of 16 years
