Critically examine the relationship between dance and therapy, combining theory and practice to gain fluency in the field.

Over two years, students will critically engage with the intersection of dance and therapy, developing advanced knowledge of anatomy, movement analysis, psychology, therapeutic relationships, and interventions in a range of settings. The first year combines core courses, practicums, and research; the second focuses on an advanced practicum and thesis, drawing on professional placements in clinical and community contexts. Graduates qualify for professional association registration and gain skills for careers in dance movement therapy and the creative arts therapies in New Zealand, Australia, and the wider region.

Relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field.
