The Master of Dance Studies (MDanceSt) at the University of Auckland is a research-focused postgraduate degree for students interested in critically examining the practices, theories, and issues of dance and the wider arts community. Supported by award-winning staff, students gain advanced specialist knowledge and intellectual skills for careers in dance, academia, arts administration, and related fields. The programme offers both 120-point and 180-point pathways, culminating in a major thesis and, optionally, a creative practice performance. Flexible, self-directed study is enabled through a combination of thesis research, elective courses and guidance from experienced supervisors.

Acquire deep understanding of dance as an academic discipline and its application in creative and social contexts.
General university requirements for admission, enrolment and fees.
Applicants for the 180-point pathway must achieve a GPA of 5.0 or higher in the first 60 points in order to continue.
