About This Course
This short course at Massey University introduces theoretical and practical aspects of emergency management in Aotearoa New Zealand. Participants explore disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, with each day focusing on a core theme: planning, mana whenua and Māori perspectives, hazard warning systems, wellbeing and resilience, and hazard mitigation. The course utilises case studies, practical exercises, and community engagement, including a marae visit and an excursion to local hazard zones.
