Develop and implement procedures to ensure the physical, emotional, and cultural safety of rangatahi (young people) in youth work settings.

Work with youth to help them recognise and develop their potential through various support strategies.
This programme equips learners to work in intermediate roles in the youth work sector, including programmes, projects, and events with youth service agencies, community, marae, or faith-based groups. Delivered through blended and workplace learning, it covers professional practice, youth development, understanding young people, and working ethically. The course aims to develop safe environments, mentoring abilities, and self-care strategies, while upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori as tangata whenua.

It will take a total of 6 months
This course requires 34 hours per week

Apply strengths-based approaches to leading and participating in youth-oriented community projects, events, and initiatives.
Disclose any criminal convictions at enrolment and authorise release of conviction information from New Zealand Police
Ability to work or undertake voluntary work in a Youth Work setting
Assessment by AGI for suitability to work in the youth work sector
Access to a computer and the internet
Recommended: Hold a current First Aid Certificate
Provisional enrolment until vetting and work placement confirmed
