The PGCertArts is a pathway to advanced arts study at Massey University, designed for graduates wishing to deepen their understanding in a selected area of the arts, humanities, or social sciences. This programme develops skills in communication, critical analysis, and creative thinking. Successful completion can provide access to further postgraduate qualifications including the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts and master's degrees.
Course Content
- Choose 60 credits from a wide range of subject areas within the arts, humanities, and social sciences (e.g., philosophy, psychology, politics, Māori studies, sociology, social anthropology, history, media studies, geography, economics, education, English, geospatial science).
- Courses span research methods, theoretical perspectives, advanced topic analysis, applied professional knowledge, and research reports.
- Sample subject areas and representative courses: Advanced Social Inquiry, Tino Rangatiratanga: Strategic Māori Development, Postmodernism and Psychology, Advanced Study of Philosophical Topics, Comparative Politics, Advanced Political Thought, Contemporary Approaches in Anthropological Theory, Frontiers in Human Geography, Advanced Film Studies, Health Economics, Innovations and Critical Issues in Digital Education, Literary Revolutions, and more.
