The Master of Indigenous Studies (MIndigSt) at the University of Auckland empowers students to address and critically engage with the social, cultural, political, and economic issues faced by Indigenous peoples—both in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally. Rooted in Indigenous worldviews, the programme provides intellectual engagement, research skills, and critical theoretical foundations for advancing tino rangatiratanga (self-determination). Students undertake core courses in Indigenous theory and methods, a dissertation, and wide-ranging elective options including public law, Māori Studies, Pacific Studies, education, media, and more.
