It will take a total of 41 weeks

Develop and demonstrate advanced paddling and racing techniques in the indigenous sport of waka ama.

Describe and engage with cultural practices and local histories relevant to waka ama.

Support and participate in health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives for individuals, whānau, and communities.
This NZ Certificate in Tikanga (Waka Ama) (Level 4) is designed for those who want to develop knowledge and practical skills in waka ama, with a foundation in te ao Māori. The programme includes advanced paddling and racing techniques, local history, health and safety, team building, lifestyle and wellbeing, and practical learning both on and off the water. This qualification supports graduates to participate in, coach, and promote waka ama within their communities.

Completion of Te Pōkaitahi Tikanga (Waka Ama) (Kaupae 3) | NZ Certificate in Tikanga (Waka Ama) (Level 3) or equivalent
