Critically describe theoretical concepts underpinning sport and recreation.

Evaluate and discuss the complex nature, characteristics, and behaviour of sport and recreation participants and assess sector products, structure, operations, and interactions in New Zealand and internationally.

Evaluate management approaches in sport and recreation, including planning, marketing, and sponsorship processes.
This programme builds advanced knowledge and applied skills vital for sport and recreation management. Combining study of current issues, industry-focused research, and practical projects, graduates are prepared for senior management positions within local, regional, or national sporting organisations, governmental bodies, or as consultants. The curriculum covers sector complexity, governance, economics, social and environmental impacts, along with professional and cultural standards.

Relevant New Zealand level 7 bachelor’s degree or recognised equivalent with a B average or better in 300-level and final year full-time equivalent courses
