Develops exemplary teaching approaches and adaptive expertise for effective learning and teaching in Kura Kaupapa Māori.
Te Aho Paerewa Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Māori Medium (PGDipT&LMM) is a one-year, field-based, postgraduate qualification for future teachers in Kura Kaupapa Māori (Māori immersion schools). The qualification teaches through te reo Māori, grounds pedagogy in kaupapa Māori concepts, and includes substantial practicum experience in Kura Hāpai. Graduates develop adaptive expertise, research, te reo Māori capabilities, and leadership skills needed for effective teaching in total immersion settings.
What you need to know first
Bachelor’s degree of at least 360 credits with minimum B grade average at 200 and 300 levels (or equivalent)

Applies Māori philosophies, pedagogical strategies, and curriculum (Te Aho Matua) in everyday teaching practice.
Fluency in te reo Māori sufficient to sustain learning in total immersion environments
Competence in literacy and numeracy
Meet requirements for registration as set down by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand (good character and fitness to be a teacher)
Supporting statement
Police vetting report (including verified identification)
Referee reports
Two completed Te Kura Hāpai forms from two different Kura Kaupapa Māori
Health and disability declaration
NZQA International Qualifications Assessment (for overseas qualifications)
Copies of all official academic transcripts for non-Massey university studies
