What You're Signing Up For
The NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) Mandarin at NZSE aims to equip Mandarin-speaking students with requisite competencies to work effectively in early childhood education settings. This qualification accommodates students with no prior experience as well as those working in the sector, including home-based educators required to complete a Level 4 qualification. The programme blends theory and practical experience, including 64 hours of work placement in licensed services such as home-based care, centres, kindergartens, or community centres. Topics cover the ECE curriculum (Te Whāriki), legislation, ethical practice, pedagogical theories, and practical application in real care environments. It also offers a pathway for progression to higher study levels in the early childhood sector.

- Teaching Curriculum (Te Marau) ECE4001: Knowledge and skills related to the ECE curriculum Te Whāriki
- Professional Knowledge (Te Mātauranga) ECE4002: Legislation, regulations, and ethical requirements affecting ECE practice
- Pedagogy (Whakaako Mokopuna) ECE4003: Theories, philosophies, and inclusive teaching approaches in ECE environments
- Practice (Kia Whakahāngai) ECE4004: Application of theory to practice in licensed home-based services, ECE centres, kindergartens, or community centres
- 64 hours of practical work placement in ECE settings
