The Master of Hōaka Pounamu equips teachers, education leaders, and researchers with enhanced knowledge and practice in te reo Māori and language immersion pedagogy. It combines advanced language training, curriculum development, immersive learning experiences, and assessment strategies aimed at revitalising te reo Māori in Aotearoa classrooms. The degree includes compulsory and elective courses, noho marae, and full-immersion classes, supporting professional advancement in mainstream, bilingual, and immersion education.

- Compulsory courses: Te Tiriti o Waitangi i te Ao Mātauranga, Whakarauora Reo, Mātauranga Māori Hei Marautanga, Tikanga/Rautaki Whakaako Reo
