The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Massey University is a 1.5 year postgraduate degree that brings together artists, curators, and social practitioners from all creative disciplines. It is designed to deepen conceptual and practical skills through advanced studio research, critical debate, interdisciplinary engagement, and partnership with leading practitioners. Students work within a supportive community with world-class facilities, engaging mātauranga toi Māori and contemporary global perspectives. The programme expects independent, process-driven exploration and culminates in a major thesis project.

Develop and present a significant body of work with a professional level of conceptual and technical sophistication.
OR Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts or equivalent with B average
OR relevant Bachelor’s degree with B average
OR admission with evidence of appropriate practical, professional, and scholarly experience
Interview and assessment of a portfolio of relevant creative work
English language requirements for international students
