This intensive qualification enables those who already hold a degree to develop in-depth practical and conceptual abilities in their chosen area of visual arts. Students specialise in studio disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, ceramics, printmaking, electronic arts, and jewellery/metalsmithing. The programme combines significant studio practice (75% of the curriculum) with art theory and professional practice, guided by experienced staff in the vibrant community of the Dunedin School of Art. Graduates gain highly transferable skills for individual artistic practice or roles across arts, education, design and more.

Integrate knowledge of art history, theory, and professional contexts into studio practice and creative projects.

Undertake studio-based projects culminating in a significant portfolio for professional or postgraduate purposes.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical, professional or educational experience at the appropriate level (NZQA Level 7).
Interview and submission of a portfolio demonstrating skills and creative process.
Evidence of academic skills equivalent to second-year undergraduate in chosen art subject.
Demonstration of English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 (Academic, no band less than 5.5) or acceptable alternative.
