This course requires 2 hours per week

Gain foundational skills and confidence in constructing basic pieces of jewellery.

Learn how to safely operate soldering torches and other tools essential for jewellery making.

Practice texturing and embossing metal to create unique designs.
This short course is designed for those new to jewellery making. Students are introduced to basic metalworking skills through to the construction of jewellery such as rings and bangles. The course covers techniques such as cutting and forming metal, soldering, embossing, and texturing metal. Silver is the main metal used, but other metals are possible. Classes are delivered in the well-equipped Jewellery Studio at the Dunedin School of Art and run one evening per week over a term.
