Create an independent, proposal-based body of work for public exhibition, demonstrating advanced technical, conceptual, and artistic skills.

Develop and complete a significant piece of academic research contextualising creative output within theoretical and historical frameworks.
This one-year full-time (or two years part-time) Level 9 Master's qualification provides an opportunity to extend your art practice and understanding through in-depth research, critical feedback, and independent creative development. You'll produce an independently-developed exhibition and research paper supported by advanced studio work and seminars. Study is highly personalised, with access to exceptional studio space, technical staff, and opportunities for engagement with visiting artists and the wider arts community. The programme is suitable for those aiming for higher-level arts employment or further academic advancement.
What you need to know first
A postgraduate visual arts qualification with at least 60 credits at Level 8 and a minimum B (70%) grade; or equivalent evidence of ability via portfolio and writings.

Deliver oral seminars and written work articulating research intentions, methodologies, and critical analysis of visual practice.
Submission of an annotated portfolio, curriculum vitae, and research project proposal.
Selection interview.
International applicants must demonstrate equivalent academic/English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 overall, no band less than 6.0, or alternative evidence).
