What You're Signing Up For
This one-year full-time (or two years part-time) Level 9 Master's qualification provides an opportunity to extend your art practice and understanding through in-depth research, critical feedback, and independent creative development. You'll produce an independently-developed exhibition and research paper supported by advanced studio work and seminars. Study is highly personalised, with access to exceptional studio space, technical staff, and opportunities for engagement with visiting artists and the wider arts community. The programme is suitable for those aiming for higher-level arts employment or further academic advancement.
Course Content
- Critical studio practice (Studio Practice 2A & 2B)
- Art theory and research methodologies
- Development and delivery of an oral seminar paper
- Essay writing and academic research (including a 7,500-word essay)
- Public exhibition of creative work
- Regular studio critiques, group seminars, and research workshops
- Supervision by academic and studio practitioners
- Interactions with visiting artists and designers
- Portfolio development and proposal writing
What you need to know first
A postgraduate visual arts qualification with at least 60 credits at Level 8 and a minimum B (70%) grade; or equivalent evidence of ability via portfolio and writings.
