About This Course
The Postgraduate Diploma in Visual Arts at Otago Polytechnic offers students a structured opportunity to further develop their studio and theoretical practice in the visual arts at a postgraduate level. The programme combines practical studio research, intellectual and contemporary writing, and exhibition opportunities. Course Content
- Studio Practice 1A and 1B: Production of a systematic and professionally exhibited body of work.
- Research Methodologies: Completion of a 2,000-word essay relevant to studio work.
- Contextual Studies: Completion of a 3,000-word essay on related contemporary practices.
- Participation in seminars and postgraduate workshops.
- Interaction with visiting artists and designers.
- Regular group critique and formal presentations.
- Supervision and student-centred learning.
- Portfolio creation and exhibition opportunities.
Entry Requirements
A Bachelor of Visual Arts or equivalent undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
