The Bachelor of Design and Arts at UCOL is an innovative programme uniting design and art disciplines to foster robust hands-on experience and collaboration. Students develop technical, conceptual, and professional skills across majors in Visual Arts, Design Media, or Textile/Fashion Design, engaging in studio practice, history, theory, and industry internships. Graduates are prepared to create, market, and promote their works and concepts in a variety of creative sectors.
What you need to know first
University entrance or equivalent academic achievement (for applicants under 20)
Minimum of 14 credits in an approved subject at Level 2 towards NCEA and required literacy/numeracy standards (for discretionary entrance under 20, New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents)

Critically analyse historical and theoretical contexts informing contemporary creative practice, especially in Aotearoa New Zealand.
No academic entry requirements if aged 20+ on first day
Portfolio of creative work
Written statement (200 words) outlining interest in Design and Arts
