Students will build upon practical and theoretical skills acquired in the BFA to reach an advanced level of creative development in their chosen medium.

Graduates will be able to pursue individual research projects informed by critical thinking and contemporary art theory.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) (BFA(Hons)) at the University of Auckland is a one-year postgraduate degree designed for students who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Fine Arts. The programme supports individual artistic research at an advanced level, enables exploration of chosen media, and hones creative and critical abilities through seminars, individual research, and critiques. Graduates develop their artistic practice, expand understanding of contemporary art in its cultural context, and are well prepared for careers as practicing artists, creative directors, or roles in the wider creative industries.
