The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) is a fourth-year programme for students who have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts and wish to further develop their independent research and professional studio practice. This NZQA Level 8 programme comprises two year-long courses: Studio Research and Critical Contexts. Students advance their skills in conceptualising, developing, and exhibiting major creative projects, supported by academic supervisors and studio mentors, with access to dedicated studio spaces and specialist facilities. The year culminates in a final public exhibition of artwork and an accompanying research dissertation, preparing graduates for professional practice, gallery or industry roles, or further postgraduate study such as a Master of Fine Arts.
